"I was glad when they said…let us go into the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1
Marie’s daily verse: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see Hebrews 11:1). DAILY DEVOTION, June 12, 2022Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life? (Matthew 6:27)I want to spend a few days talking about worry. Many biblical passages instruct us not to fear or worry. When the Egyptian army attacked the Israelites at the Red Sea the people were very afraid. But Moses responded, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today” (Exodus 14:13).Over the next few days, I want to give you some principles designed to lead us to a worry-free life. The first is to remember that God loves you and has pledged to protect you. Psalm 23 reminds us that the Lord is our Shepherd. Therefore we lack nothing. Isaiah says that God’s people have gone astray, like sheep. In spite of our habit of going in the wrong direction, Jesus is our Shepherd who watches over us and actively seeks to draw us back to safety. As we trust in the Good Shepherd we have nothing to worry about. When faith is alive nothing can separate us from His loving protection (Romans 8:39).When you are overcome with worry hand it over to Jesus. Trust the Good Shepherd. Yes, we all have our problems but we gain nothing by worrying. Jesus says you cannot add a single moment to your life by worry. Worry eats away at faith. When worry comes remind yourself that you are in the hands of the Good Shepherd and worry will fade away.Lord Jesus, how thankful I am to know that You are my Shepherd. When I am worried and afraid help me to know that You are with me. I believe in Your promise that You will restore my soul as I follow You. You will lead me to overcome all my worries. I thank You for Your loving protection. Amen.
