DAILY DEVOTION, November 22, 2023

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, ¹⁸ may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— ¹⁹ to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Wow, what a mouthful of truth is present in a few words. Faith in Jesus brings His living presence into our hearts. His presence is revealed as we become rooted and grounded in love. How big is the love of Christ? Paul says it passes knowledge. It is so vast that the human mind cannot comprehend it. We receive His love and practice His love, but it is so enormous that we cannot begin to understand it.  Just know this. You are loved by a love that is so ginormous (slang for really, really big) that when we try to put it into words, we stutter. We love our families, but the love Jesus has for us goes way beyond human love. Even if you cannot explain it, receive it by trusting in Jesus. As we grow in the grace and love of God, His love will flow out of us more and more. I can’t think of anything more wonderful than basking in Jesus’s love.

Prayer: Father God, how wonderful it is to know that you love us with an incomprehensible love. We see that love, especially when we contemplate Jesus suffering on the cross for us. We trust in Jesus with all our hearts and gladly share His love with others. In His name, we pray, Amen.
