Devotion

Marie’s daily verse: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).

Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good (Psalm 107:1).

The Psalmist gives us a reason to give thanks to the Lord. Why? Because He is good. Do you believe God is good? Do you believe God loves you and desires that you be in heaven after you leave this life? There are many signs all around us that reveal the love of God. The most significant sign is Jesus. He shows us very clearly the goodness of God.

If you fear God, you will not want to thank Him. Once we understand that God loves us, thanksgiving flows from us like a mighty river. We comprehend the goodness of God. Once God’s goodness is lodged in our minds, thanksgiving arises spontaneously. He is so good that He sent Jesus to redeem us from our sins. It does not get any “gooder” than that! Keep reminding yourself of Psalm 107:1 – – – God is good, God is good, God is good.

Gracious Father, please help me understand Your goodness and live my life with that truth ever before me. I admit I do not feel worthy of Your goodness. Regardless of how I feel, You are good. You are forever good, and I thank You in the name of Jesus, Amen.
