On Sunday the sermon series on the Holy Spirit continues. Last week we saw that the primary evidence that we have received the Holy Spirit is seen in a life of consistent  obedience to Jesus. That same theme will continue this Sunday with special emphasis on how the Holy Spirit and the Bible relate.

This Week at Warsaw Christian Church, 8/19 thru 8/25

Wednesday Bible Study will continue the study on how we got our Bible. We will view the video featuring the teaching of Dr. Timothy Paul Jones with discussion led by Mark Simmons. This weeks theme is “How the New Testament Books were Chosen.”
The Sunday sermon series will continue on the work of the Holy Spirit. Last Sunday the emphasis was on the new birth. The new birth occurs when we place our faith in Jesus. However, everyone should ask the question, “Is my faith genuine?” This Sunday I will try to show that Christian character is the best indication of the presence of true faith.
On Thursday evening at 5:30 we will have our final summer movie night. Sandwich supper at 5:30 (bring food to share) with the film beginning around 6 PM. We will be watching a very interesting and inspiring film on prayer.

This Week at Warsaw Christian Church, 8/12 thru 8/18

Our official board will meet on Tuesday at 6 PM.
Bible study, Wednesday at 3:30, will continue our study on “How We Got The Bible.”
This Sunday’s sermon will continue our study of the work of the Holy Spirit. He is very active in creating the new birth. I will be discussing how the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and the human will work together to bring about the new birth. Jesus declared that one must be reborn in order to enter the Kingdom of God, so this is clearly a very important topic.
The question came up in Sunday School about the origin of the word “Gentile.” It refers to non-Jews but the term did not originate in Judaism. It was first used in Jerome’s translation of the Bible into Latin (The Vulgate, late 4th Century AD) to refer to non-Jews. It basically means “race” or “clan.”
