Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

DAILY DEVOTION, 12/17/20: God sent His Son

And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:14-16).

Christmas is fast approaching. We all look forward to that special day. John gives us a grand summary concerning the meaning of Christmas in a few words. John saw Jesus in the flesh. Now he testifies concerning what he saw. The Father has sent the Son to be the world’s savior. After spending three years with Jesus and witnessing the resurrection, John knows without a doubt that Jesus is the Savior of the world. And how do we benefit from the coming of Jesus? If we confess that Jesus is the Son of God, we find ourselves abiding in God. Through faith in Jesus, we enter into a relationship with the Father. Faith also reveals to us something about the nature of God. We learn that God loves us. We also come to know that the reality of our faith is seen in the love we have for God and one another. Our relationship with God begins and ends with love.

Father, thank You for giving Jesus to us to be our Savior. Thank You that through faith in Jesus we enter into a relationship with You. May divine love shine out of our hearts to others, In Jesus name. Amen.
