Marie’s Daily verse: You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.1 John 4:4 NIVDAILY DEVOTION, February 22, 2022 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise (Ephesians 5:15).So be careful how you live; be mindful of your steps. Don’t run around like idiots as the rest of the world does. Instead, walk as the wise! (Voice Translation). The above translations demonstrate how sometimes a modern translation is helpful. Many would scratch their heads over the meaning of “circumspectly.” Basically, it means “careful.” Careful Christians seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. That is the wise course. I think of our yard, which our dogs use as a bathroom. You have to be careful where you step! Or I think of soldiers walking through a minefield. Those who are not careful may lose their life. Christians need to take care where they walk. The devil can blow up the lives of those Christians who walk carelessly. Following Jesus is the wise course. The Voice translation speaks of those who walk forgetful of their Master as “idiots.” Unfortunately, the unbelieving world lives unwisely, but we must follow Jesus, not the unbelieving world. Those who try to live life without Jesus are fools, a more polite term than “idiots.”  Be smart. Follow Jesus.Father, when I look at Jesus, I see how we humans are to live. While I fall far short of His standard, I want to do my best to follow His steps. So help me, I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
