Marie’s Daily Verse: Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.(Psalms 62:5 NLT).
DAILY DEVOTION, October 25, 2022
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools. (Romans 1:21-22).
Paul is speaking about those who deny God. Paul states in Romans Chapter 1 that the reality of God is plainly seen in the things He has made. Yet, many deny God. Others live as though God did not exist. He then describes what happens when God is denied. People cannot think straight, their hearts are darkened, and they think they are wise, but they are fools.
When I look at our world Paul’s words certainly ring true. Philosophers, scientists, and politicians who want no part of God come up with weird ideas. Evolution is one strange idea about the origin of the universe and life. And look at those countries that officially want God out of government. When that happens, the people are governed by fools who claim to be wise. Philosophers who deny God write strange and difficult-to-understand books. I have tried to read some of them. I find the Christian-biblical worldview is understandable and makes sense.
Don’t let ungodly fools govern your thinking. You will end up becoming as they are!
Father, keep me grounded in Your Word, which brings me the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Thank You, especially that Your Word has led me to Jesus, my Savior. Guard my mind against the foolishness that comes from those who deny You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
