Marie’s daily verse:
“I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.
12I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God.” ISAIAH 43:11-12
DAILY DEVOTION, November 15, 2022
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me (Psalm 56:3-4).
Fear strikes all of us at times. Often, we are afraid of what others may do to harm us. The Psalmist gives us a simple cure for fear: trust in God. If we are afraid of others, or of sickness, or fear of finances, the answer is the same. Whenever you fear, trust in God.
I believe the Psalmist is reminding us of a simple truth. God is bigger than all our fears and problems. If your fear is of a mere mortal, what can a mortal do to those who trust in God? What mortal can hold back the helping hand of God? This verse presents us with two options. We can give in to fear, or we can trust in God. Which will it be for you?
Father, I thank You that when I trust in You, I have nothing to fear. No problem, man made or otherwise, can overpower faith. I choose to trust in You whatever life sends my way. In the blessed name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
