Daily Devotion

Marie’s daily verse: Psalm 108:12-1312 Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. 13 Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

DEVOTION, Sept. 12, Saturday, Every knee bow

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11, NKJV).

God the Father has highly exalted the name of Jesus. His name is above every name. His name is greater than George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein – – – any great person that comes to mind. People in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, are to bow in humility and submission before the name of Jesus. In other words, we are to honor Jesus more than we honor anyone, certainly more than we honor ourselves!

Notice the word “should” in the verse. Not everyone bows the knee in honor of  Jesus, but everyone should so honor Him. Our lips should confess that He is our Lord, the one to whom we owe our highest allegiance. The day will come when everyone who has ever lived will realize that He is Lord. For some, that recognition will come too late.  This is another verse by which the reality of our faith can be tested. Do my lips and life reflect the truth that Jesus is my Lord?

Father in heaven, I want my lips and my life to demonstrate clearly that Jesus is my Lord. I know I do not reflect my faith in Him to perfection, but I pray that His life and truth will shine forth from my life. I want to honor Him today and always. In His blessed name, I pray, Amen.
