This Week at Warsaw Christian Church 3/4 through 3/10, 2019

We had another bad weather Sunday and once again church was canceled. The forecast for this coming Sunday looks positive so maybe we will be able to have church again! I am sure ready for Spring.

Tuesday, the FCM men’s group will meet at 8 AM for our monthly breakfast and time of fellowship.

Wednesday the FCW women’s group will meet at 9:30 for their monthly meeting.

On Wednesday at 3:30 out weekly Bible study group will continue our examination of the parables. We will be looking at the last judgment parable of the sheep and the goats.

Choir will meet following Bible study at 4:45.

Sunday school meets at 9 AM. Our worship service follows at 10:15 AM. I will be finishing up our study in the Book of Acts. The following week I will begin a short series from the Book of Titus.

The official board will meet on Tuesday, March 12 at 6 PM.

We have been blessed to have Dale and Margaret Sloan with us the past few years. They will be moving to Kansas City on March 20th. We pray God will be with them as they begin a new phase in their lives.

Warsaw Christian Church, 2/25 thru 3/3

Finally we had decent weather last Sunday. We hope it continues.

This Sunday, March 3rd, I will conclude the series on the Book of Acts. Basically I will be summarizing the main points we have learned from this history book covering events in the 1st Century. Coming up will be a brief series from the Book of Titus, and a longer series based on 1st Peter.

We will continue our study of the parables on Wednesday at 3:30. We will be discussing the parable of the rich fool (Luke 12:16-21). It reminds us that life is brief and uncertain. We need to get our priorities in order.

Choir follows Bible study. We will continue working on our Easter cantata as well as Sunday morning anthems.

Warsaw Christian Church 2/18-24

Hopefully the weather will allow us to have a normal week! Marie and I will be in Joplin attending the annual Preaching-Teaching Conference at Ozark Christian College. We certainly thank the congregation for allowing us a conference expense budget. This is a time for us to receive spiritual nourishment. Pastors need to take in spiritual food as well as giving it out. We will leave Monday 2/18 and return ion Thursday 2/21.

Bible study on the parables will be as usual at 3:30 Wednesday wkith Jack Salyer teaching. He will be teaching on the parable and the tax collector, a parable rich with divine truth.

The sermon on Sunday will cover Acts 21-26 with special emphasis on Paul’s discussion with Herod Agrippa in Acts 26. I will be skimming over chapters 21-25 giving a brief summary of Paul’s continuing problem with the Jews and his trip to Rome.

Warsaw Christian Church, week of 2-11 through 2-17

A few brave souls did show up Sunday. However, after arriving at church I realized that the parking lot, ramp, and sidewalks were treacherous. I suggested it would be safer to go home and church would be cancelled. I would have cancelled earlier had I known about the ice situation. By noon the ice was basically gone. It hit at just the wrong time. My apologies to those who made the trip to church yesterday. So, next Sunday will be what should have happened yesterday!

Wednesday Bible study (3:30) will feature a study of the familiar parable of the Prodigal Son. What I like about these Wednesday studies is the opportunity to hear from you. The back and forth discussion is very helpful, something we can’t do on Sunday morning. I wish more of you would come. You are invited!

We will continue our sermon series on the Book of Acts. We will be looking at several important truths that emerge from Chapter 20.

The Valentines dinner which was iced out last week will be held this Sunday. The forecast looks a little better for this weekend.
