He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”REVELATION 21:4
DAILY DEVOTION, January 13, 2023
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known (1 Corinthians 13:12).
In this life, we know God dimly. While we have a considerable amount of revealed truth, there is much we will never know about God in this life. We have enough information in the Bible to receive salvation. We are to place our trust in Jesus. He is our Savior. We also have much revealed truth about how we are to live. But with all the information we possess, much about God remains a mystery.
We would love to know why Christians face so much suffering. We would love to know more details about heaven. So much is hidden from us. We know in part, but we desire to know more. Elsewhere Paul said we must walk by faith, not by sight. When life seems confusing, and you don’t understand why, the best we can do is to pray “hallelujah anyhow.” We must not abandon our faith when we don’t understand. We try our best to cope with this life, come what may, looking forward to that time when we shall see Jesus face to face.
Father, help me accept that my knowledge of You is partial in this life. When I do not understand Your ways, may my faith in You remain strong. I thank You for the knowledge I possess in Scripture pointing to Jesus, my Savior. In His name, I pray. Amen.
