THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 4-15 THRU 4/21

It seems like Easter week has come quickly upon us. Here are the events for this week:

1. Tuesday is Board Meeting night, 6 PM.

2. Bible study on the parables of Jesus will continue on Wednesday at 3:30

3. Choir meets at 4:45. This will be our final rehearsal for the Easter Cantata.

4. Our traditional candle light communion service will be on Maundy Thursday at 7 PM. Sermon/meditation will be on the importance of remembering.

5. The 214 hour prayer vigil will be held on Good Friday. We appreciate all those who signed up.

6. Looking ahead the annual chicken and noodle dinner will be on March 28 following the worship service. Everything is provided so just bring your appetite.

7. Easter Cantata on Easter Sunday. The choir has worked hard on this cantata. We are few in number but we pray this sermon in song will bless you.

I want to thank Jack Salyer and Bill Siebert for filling in for me the two Sundays we were gone. Thanks also to Jack and Mark Simmons for filling in for Wednesday Bible study.  I will complete series from the Book of Titus on April 28. Then on May 5th I will be preaching an important message entitled, “What Happens to Disobedient Christians.” We will be looking at 3 important consequences that follow when we are disobedient to the will of God. God does not ignore disobedient Christians and it is important that we know how He will react.

Palm Sunday

Marie and I will be glad to be back in Warsaw this Thursday. I think this is the first time in 17 years that I’ve missed two Sundays in a row. Thanks to Jack Salyer and Bill Siebert for filling in.

We will have Bible study and choir as usual this Wednesday. The choir is working on an Easter cantata. I will be preaching on an Easter Theme on Palm Sunday. We will have our Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. the signup sheet has been posted for the 24 hour prayer vigil on Good Friday. We enjoyed worshiping at my old church in Decatur on Sunday .  There are lots of new people but it is always good to see some of the old people who were there when I was there 25 years ago . I met one 65 year old lady  who was in my youth group  back in the day . We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. Pastor Bowman and Marie.

MIDWEEK REPORT FOR WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 4/3/19

Marie and I are happy to be back from California but we leave again tomorrow (Thursday, 4/4) for the DHF Conference in Decatur followed by the Small Church conference in Morton, IL. We will return on Thursday, April 11. Thanks to Jack Salyer for preaching last Sunday.  I have heard lots of good reports. This Sunday Bill Siebert will be preaching. I will be glad to be back in the pulpit on Palm Sunday. The choir will present a cantata on Easter.

Most of Marie’s brother’s furniture went to the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. Butch’s former boss came by and helped us clean out the apartment. He was a tremendous help to us. I know Marie will miss her brother but she also has a sense of peace about his passing. Many thanks for all your prayers.

Pastor Bowman

This week at Warsaw Christian Church, 3/18 through 3/24

Marie and I will be here this week but will be leaving after church on 3/24 for Upland, CA. Marie has to finish up the estate of her deceased brother. We will have a few things to bring home in the SUV so we will be driving. Please pray that everything will go smoothly. After we return from California we have two events we will be attending in Illinois. April 5 and 6 is the Disciple Heritage Fellowship Conference at First Christian Church in Decatur. Then we move on to Morton, IL for the annual small church conference April 8-10. I will be back in the pulpit April 14 (Palm Sunday).

Wednesday Bible study at 3:30 will continue with the parables of Jesus. We will be examining the Parable of the Sower, seeking to answer the question, “What kind of soil am I?” We always enjoy lots of good discussion at Bible study. Each study stands alone so even if you haven’t been attending there is a place for you. Jack Salyer and Mark Simmons will be teaching the Bible studies while I am gone.

Choir will follow Bible study as we continue to work on the Easter cantata. Easter will be upon us soon!

Sunday’s sermon will be part 2 from the Book of Titus. In Chapter 2 we will continue examining what it means to be a mature Christian.

Marie and I will be gone the Sunday’s of March 31st and April 7th. Jack Salyer will bring the message on March 31st. Bill Siebert will be preaching on April 7.

This week at Warsaw Christian Church, 3/11 through 3/17

Due to the death of Marie’s brother, William (Butch) Schreiman some things are a little uncertain for the Bowman’s this week. We will need to go to California sometime this week to settle Butch’s affairs. Marie was his only surviving relative.

However, we will have Bible study this Wednesday at 3:30 continuing the study of Jesus’ parables. We will examine the parable of the 10 minas in Luke 19:11-27. Choir practice will follow at 4:45.

My next sermon will be from the Book of Titus, Chapter 1 where Paul defines a Christian as a slave of Jesus Christ. Are you comfortable with the idea of being a slave? Paul turns this negative idea into something very positive. If I am in California this Sunday we will have a guest speaker.

I just heard that the new railing will be installed this week along the ramp.

Marie wants to thank everyone for your love and prayers during a difficult time. The loss of her brother was unexpected but we rejoice that he has gone to be with God.
