THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 8/10 THRU 8/16, 2020

Just about the time when we thought the Coronavirus was fading away. now it seems to have returned stronger than ever. Let us continue to plead with our heavenly Father for protection, and an end to this pandemic.

Our church board will meet on Tuesday at 6 PM. I am sure we will be discussing any changes needing to be made in view of the pandemic. While understandably our attendance has been down, we have been able to hold church services following recommended guidelines.

Wednesday Bible study is at 3:30. We will continue our study of discipleship. It will be the final lesson in a series of four on what it means to be a Christian. We have to be sure we have a relationship with Jesus before we can talk about discipleship.

On Sunday I will continue the series of sermons from the Gospel of John. We are in John chapter 8. The focus will be on Jesus as the light of the world. We will continue to stress social distancing in the sanctuary with masks optional. Masks are required for those sitting in the fellowship hall.

May you all have a blessed week. Pastor Bowman

THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 8/3 THRU 8/9

Next Sunday we continue the sermon series from the Gospel of John. If I had to pick a favorite Gospel I would pick John. They are all good, but John reveals so clearly the deity of Jesus. We will see that again Sunday as we examine the woman caught in adultery.

Last Sunday we had our highest Coronavirus attendance so far – – – 42. With the increase in cases, it is understandable that several of our members are not comfortable to be in church yet. I know we are all praying for an end to this virus. I wish I understood what God is telling us but I am uncertain. I just know that God is in control and He will accomplish His purposes.

Bible study is on Wednesday at 3:30. Jack Salyer will lead us in our study of discipleship.

Church Board will meet at 6 PM on Tuesday, August 11. We will continue to discuss if any changes in services should be made because of the Coronavirus.

May you all have a blessed, virus-free week! Pastor Bowman

THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 7/27 THRU 8/2

Are you as tired of the Coronavirus as I am? It just goes on and on. Thankfully, it has not touched our church family. We just continue to pray that God will lift this scourge from the world. We are trying to do our best to keep our church functional as we cope with the pandemic.

For the present, we are continuing with one worship service at 10:00 AM with Sunday School canceled. It seems to be working well with masks optional in the sanctuary and masks required in Fellowship Hall. Hopefully, the sound system will work better this Sunday. I will continue my march through the Gospel of John. We will be in John Chapter 7, examining especially verses 37-39 where Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to His people.

We will continue our Wednesday Bible Study at 3:30. Mark Simmons will be our leader as we explore what it means to come to faith. We have to be sure we have a relationship with God before we can grow in Discipleship.

Our next church board meeting will be at 6 PM on August 11.

Have a blessed and healthy week. Pastor Bowman

THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 7/20 THRU 7/26

We continue our efforts to adjust to the Coronavirus. Holding one worship service at 10:00 AM seems to be working. Those who want to wear masks sit in the fellowship hall. Masks are optional for those sitting in the sanctuary. As far as I know, none of our members have contracted the virus. Thank You, God!
Last Sunday we said farewell to Bill Siebert. He has been filling in for me on vacation Sundays but is moving to Kansas to be near family. He preached a strong sermon for us on Sunday. Our prayers and best wishes go out to Bill.
Next Sunday I will continue our study in John’s Gospel. We will be examining the episode when our Lord walked on water.
On Wednesday of this week we will resume our weekly Bible study at 3:30 meeting in the sanctuary. We will be observing the same health rules as on Sunday morning. We will begin a new series on discipleship. One question we will discuss is the difference between the word “Christian” and the word “disciple.”
Have a blessed week, Pastor Bowman

THIS WEEK AT WARSAW CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 7/13 THRU 7/19

(Apologies for the delay in posting!)

We continue to do our best to cope with COVID 19. I thought the virus was subsiding, and then it seemed to roar back with a vengeance. Thankfully, so far, none of our members have caught it. We continue to rely on God’s grace with gratitude.

Bill Siebert will be our guest speaker this Sunday. Bill has filled in for me numerous times when Marie and I were on vacation. Now Bill is moving to Kansas. We wanted to express our gratitude to him before he leaves. We will be taking a special love offering for him on Sunday. We want to let Bill know how much we appreciate his service to our congregation. I will be here to lead the worship service.

The church board will meet Tuesday at 6 PM. We will be reviewing our present practices to see if any changes need to be made. I will continue with daily devotions for now. We still have several families who do not feel safe to come to church. We don’t want anyone coming to church unless they feel safe. The daily devotions give us a means to stay in touch.

We had to purchase a new air conditioner for the sanctuary. The old one was installed in the late 1980s, and it finally gave up the ghost. The new unit costs $3500. Thanks to Drew Stowe and crew for their quick work, and to Drew for donating his labor. That saved us quite a bit.

I hope and pray all will have a great week! May God’s grace and mercy be with you all.
